Our lessons

Watch how a PassFrame lesson runs: a live call, questions on screen, a whiteboard when an answer needs explaining, then feedback and homework.

Animated PassFrame lesson A tutor and a student on a live video call. The tutor displays questions while the student works in their notebook, and marks each one with a tick or a cross. When the student struggles with a question, the tutor opens a whiteboard to explain it, and changes the cross to a tick once it is corrected. A clock shows the lesson lasts 60 minutes, the parent joins the call for feedback, and homework is set. Two one-hour lessons a week

Every lesson is live on Microsoft Teams with screen sharing and an online whiteboard. Each lesson sticks to one subject, and the two below take it in turns from week to week. Questions are prepared in advance, with variety and rising difficulty in each subject.

Lesson 1: Maths or Non-Verbal Reasoning

    • Maths

Fractions, decimals and percentages, ratio, measures, shape and data, plus the multi-step problems the exams use to stretch children.

    • Non-Verbal Reasoning (NVR)

Solving puzzles with shapes and patterns: sequences, matrices, odd one out, codes, rotation and reflection, and spatial questions such as cube nets and hidden shapes.

Lesson 2: English or Verbal Reasoning

    • English

Comprehension across fiction, non-fiction and poetry, plus spelling, punctuation, grammar and vocabulary. We also practise the writing tasks some schools set.

    • Verbal Reasoning (VR)

Thinking with words and letters: synonyms and antonyms, word connections, anagrams, hidden words, letter and number codes, sequences and logic puzzles.

Parents mark homework, and we start each lesson by going through the questions they found difficult. Progress also depends on practice at home, so we recommend at least an hour of study a day between lessons.

    Getting started

    1. Consultation and introductory call Free

We talk about your child, and the exams and schools you are aiming for.

    2. Induction assessment

A short set of questions across all four subjects. It is not a test: it shows us where your child is starting, and gives you a taste of how our sessions are run.

    3. Weekly lessons

Lessons begin, planned around what the assessment showed.

    4. Monthly tests

Regular checks show progress and where to focus next.

    Book a free introductory call

Anything not covered here? Email us.

What age/year group do you teach?

11+ tuition is for Year 4 and Year 5.

When should my child start 11+ preparation?

As early as possible. Ideally in Year 4, where we can build foundational knowledge and cover the entire syllabus in good time.

How many students are in each session?

All lessons are 1 to 1, on a recurring weekly day and time with your child's tutor.

Are lessons online or in person?

    Solely online, via Microsoft Teams.

    How much homework is given?

We recommend 45 minutes per day outside of lessons.

What happens if my child misses a lesson?

Contact your tutor to arrange a reschedule. This must be done 24 hours in advance of the lesson, as no-shows cannot be compensated.

How do parents receive progress updates?

We talk with parents at the end of lessons, and share assessment test results and feedback.

What if I need to change days?

Send a new recurring request through the parent portal for the day and time you'd like — your tutor accepts or declines it there.

    Parent terms & conditions

    Payment

Fees are £45 per hour (£90 a week) for 11+ tuition. Fees are due weekly, in advance of that week's lessons, by bank transfer unless we agree otherwise. Extra homework help or focus lessons are charged separately, at £40 per hour.

Your right to cancel (14 days)

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, once you confirm paid lessons with us, you have the right to cancel that agreement within 14 days, without giving a reason, for a full refund of any lessons not yet delivered. If you would like lessons to begin within that 14-day period, we will only do so once you have told us that is what you want, and you accept that you may lose the right to cancel for any lessons already delivered by the time you cancel. To cancel, just email us and we will confirm and refund you within 14 days. Booking a free introductory call does not start this 14-day period, as no paid agreement is made at that stage.

    Rescheduling and missed lessons

Separately from your right to cancel, we ask for at least 24 hours' notice to reschedule a lesson. Lessons cancelled with less notice, or missed without notice, cannot be refunded or rescheduled. If we ever need to cancel or move a lesson, we will let you know as early as we can and offer an alternative time.

    Lessons

Lessons take place online via Microsoft Teams, using video, screen share and a shared whiteboard. Homework is set after most lessons, marked by parents at home, and reviewed at the start of the next lesson. Progress is tracked through regular monthly tests.

    Responsibilities

Parents are responsible for making sure their child has a working device, a stable internet connection and a quiet space for each lesson, and for supporting the recommended homework routine at home. PassFrame is responsible for delivering the agreed lessons, tracking progress, and letting you know early if anything needs to change.

    Privacy notice

The data controller is PassFrame Tuition, founded and run by Timothy and David. For anything to do with your data, contact us at passframefd@outlook.com.

We collect only the information we need to arrange and deliver lessons: parent and child names, year group, contact details, and notes on progress and homework.

We use this to run lessons, communicate with parents, and track a child's progress. We do not sell it or share it with third parties, other than the services we use to deliver tutoring itself, such as Microsoft Teams, and we never use it for marketing without asking first.

We keep active account and lesson records for as long as your child is enrolled, and for up to 12 months after your last lesson with us, in case you return or need a reference. After that, we delete them, unless we're required by law to keep something longer (for example, financial records for tax purposes).

As a parent, you can ask to see the information we hold on your family, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it earlier than the periods above, at any time, by emailing us. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe we've mishandled your data.
